Happy New Year.
Over the Christmas period our Director and engineers have been working on lifting the construction suspension and obtaining the revised planning approval for our Thalassa Beach Resort.
We have arrived at this difficult situation due to interference from our previous contractor Fullmark’s taking the unusual step of involving the Interior Minister of the TRNC.
As Fullmark’s have previously filed a claim against us which is currently proceeding through the legal system they have used their influence and pulled some political strings to invoke the current building suspension. By doing this they are hoping we will agree to settle out of court as oppose to going through the legal system in settling their claim against us.
We have always maintained that we are happy to comply with the courts findings as we feel we have a strong case against the payment of compensation.
As with any construction in the TRNC the contractor appoints their own architect to submit the plans for approval and any amendments. Unfortunately, the Fullmarks appointed architect has failed to do this in accordance with the guidelines. We have now approached the chamber of architects to either remove the previously appointed architect from the construction or force him to complete his duties.
Under the original building permit we applied for permission to construct 1700 apartments which we have had approval for. We are currently constructing around 500 apartments with approximately 200 nearing completion.
We have had lengthy talks with the Chamber of Architects, the Prime Minister and other government departments who are giving us their full support in reaching a speedy and satisfactory solution to this situation. Their indication is that by next week they will have resolved the obstruction caused by the architect.
Our director met with the foreign Minister today and has a further appointment with the Prime Minister tomorrow afternoon.
Whilst we are unable to provide a date for the construction to continue we will continue to put considerable pressure on the relevant offices until we receive the assurances that building can recommence.
We are obviously as keen as our customers to rectify this unfortunate situation as a matter of urgency. We are committed to the completion of our Thalassa Beach Resort and will continue to be so regardless of the obstacles that are placed in our way.
We thank you for your support and patience at this difficult time, please rest assured that we are doing all we can to achieve a quick resolution.
Updates will follow as soon as we have further information.
